The new sports school named after the Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Artur Aleksanyan in Gyumri will be put into operation earlier than planned, in 2024. Work on the construction of the facility worth 5.8 billion drams (about $14 million) began in 2021, they were planned to be completed in 2025.

The sports complex itself will consist of six buildings, and the hotel zone - of 10. The total area is 10 hectares. The complex will include basketball and volleyball courts, a football field with stands, martial arts halls, a hall with a ring and stands, a swimming pool and a shooting range.

Foreign athletes can compete on the territory of the sports complex, tournaments can be held. As a reference, on September 12, the Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan (97 kg) won the title of world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for the fourth time.
