From September 19 to 25, the 6th International Youth Olympiad of Europe in Informatics, organized by Ukraine, was held online at YSU.

The format of the Olympiad coincided with the format of the International Olympiad in Informatics and each country could submit 4 official participants. The organizers also gave the participating states the opportunity to introduce non-official participants outside the competition, with a maximum of 4 people. Taking advantage of this, the Armenian team presented the same number of unofficial participants.

The Olympiad was attended by 172 participants from 32 countries (91 official and 81 unofficial (out of competition)). The Armenian team introduced itself with 8 participants. The team was headed by YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics teacher Armen Andreasyan, and students Samvel Andreasyan and Hamlet Mikaelyan.

During the summing up of the results of the Olympiad, our participants won 7 medals (1 gold - Gagik Gevorkyan from the college "Quantum" (grade 9), 3 silver medals - Alex Grigoryan from the college "Quantum" (grade 8), Alen Kazaryan (grade 9) and Martin Khachatryan from the physics and mathematics school, 3 bronze medals – Alexander Ghazaryan (8th grade) from the “Education” school, Tsovak Yegoryan (grade 9) and Sergey Hambardzumyan (grade 9) from the physics and mathematics school Mher Kalashyan, a 9th-grade student of the school, also took participation in the Olympics.

In 2021, the Armenian team (5 participants) won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 5th International Youth Olympiad in Informatics in Europe.
