The winery «Kataro» will build a new plant, which will have a tasting hall, museum, as well as new vineyards. Previous wine production plant «Kataro» was in Togh village of Hadrut district of Artsakh and since autumn 2020 it was under occupation. «At that difficult time, only 10 thousand bottles of wine of 2017, a stock of «Kataro», which did not remain either in the factory controlled by Azerbaijan or in the Armenian market, were taken away from Togh», - said Grigory Avetisyan.

He also said that 10,000 bottles of wine «Kataro» were put up for sale, and the profit is aimed at the construction of a new plant. Winemaking is considered one of the fastest-growing industries in Armenia. Winemaking in Armenia has more than 6,100-year history, and in the last decade, the newly opened wineries have breathed into the industry new life. The vineyards created for winemaking in Armenia cover an area of 16,700 hectares, 61.8% of the production is a red dry wine. In the last decade, the average growth of wine production in Armenia was 18% per year, and exports were 12%. Whereas in 2015 Armenian wine was exported to 15 countries, in 2021 the number of countries reached 40. The main export direction of Armenian wine is Russia - 75%, followed by the USA - 5.2%, China - 2.3%, Poland - 1.6% and Lithuania - 1.6%.
