"Max Fish" is the largest group of companies in Armenia in the fish farming and fish trade, established more than 10 years ago. Most of the finished products are exported and are in great demand in Russia's largest retail chains. The company owns ponds for artificial fish breeding in several villages of Ararat region, with a total area of about 14 hectares, where about 2,250 tons of fish can be kept at the same time.  

Recently Max Fish switched to renewable energy installing 2,250 solar panels. The capacity of the power plant is 1 MW with annual productivity of 1518.75 kWh, which led to $170 000 savings a year, and  657 tons carbon dioxide emissions reduction per year.

Armenia has a large potential for solar energy (the average annual solar energy production per 1sq.m. of the surface is 1,720 kWh/sq.m. and a quarter of the country has an annual solar energy supply of 1,850 kWh/sq.m). The Government of the Republic of Armenia guarantees the purchase of the full amount of electricity produced from renewable sources within the next 20 years. Today, Armenia is building several large solar power plants with a total capacity of 400 MW.

The installed solar panels are Armenian-made manufactured by LA Solar. Founded in 2019, the solar panel producing company uses modern generator equipment developed by the Swiss company Meyer Burger for manufacturing solar panels. The company is the operator of a non-tax zone in the Eurasian Economic Union. The plant is located in the “Alliance” Free Economic Zone. The production capacity of the plant is 90 MW per year, which is expected to reach 200 MW in 2022.

There are 4 Free Economic Zones in Armenia, which are already exploited: Alliance, Meridian, Megri and ECOS. Alliance specializes in the production and export of high-tech and innovative technologies in the fields of electronics, precision engineering, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, IT, alternative energy, industrial design, and telecommunications. Meridian is specialized in jewelry, stone cutting, and watchmaking.  Specialization of Megri FEZ is industrial and logistic in the sphere of agriculture, manufacturing, electricity supply, trade, transportation and storage, professional and technical activity, culture, tourism, entertainment, and recreation. ECOS is for IT companies operating on blockchain technologies. Armenian FEZ offers business ready-made infrastructure and the almost complete absence of a tax burden (a company pays only personal income tax - 23% of the salary of each employee). Any type of currency for mutual settlements can be used in the FEZ.
