An investment program for the construction of the «Industrial Greenhouse Complex» in the area of Lchashen and Varser villages of the Sevan Gegharkunik region was approved. The total investment will be $48 million. The greenhouse complex will be located on 110 hectares, of which 45 hectares will be occupied by greenhouses, the rest - service infrastructure. Greenhouses will produce 12,000 tons of vegetables per year, 80% of which will be exported. About 400-450 permanent jobs will be created. One of the assistance programs in Armenia targeted at boosting the agricultural sector refers to the assistance packages on small and medium-sized greenhouses. The purpose of the program «State assistance to the introduction of small and medium-sized greenhouses» is to increase the number of greenhouses in Armenia through construction costs reimbursements from the state budget.  

There are three options for the construction of greenhouses and their technological support:

Option 1: Tunnel greenhouse with an area of 300-600sq.m with single or double-layer polyethylene cover and enriched ground, the cost of construction and technological support of which is estimated at 11,850 AMD per square meter. Compensation for expenses is provided in the amount of 4,000 AMD per square meter.

Option 2: Greenhouse area of 800-3000 sq. m with single or multi-roll polyethylene cover and enriched groundmass, the cost of construction and technological support of which is estimated at 24 550 AMD per square meter. Compensation of AMD 8,000 per square meter is provided.

Option 3: Greenhouse area of 800-3000 sq. m with one or multiple polyethylene cover by hydroponic growing method, the cost of construction and technological support of which is estimated at 30,000 AMD per square meter. Cost compensation is provided in the amount of 10,000 AMD per square meter.
